WHAT IS YOUR LEVEL OF AWARENESS?
No, I am not asking about our level of self-absorption, because we are way too deep in the culture of feeding our ego – nurturing our image and status with our filtered selfies and self-centred social media posts. Rather, I am asking about the awareness that is all about experiencing your true self and awakening to your true nature.
But what is our true nature? Are we simply the body that we come into this world with, that ages with time and withers away after death? Are we the mind that grows astute with intellectual pursuits only to evaporate at the time of death? Are we our emotions that change as frequently as the weather? Or is there much more to our “selves”? Is there something more constant, more powerful that defines our true self?
My answer is absolutely “yes” to that last premise. There is something more constant and more powerful – our higher selves – and awareness is the conduit that gives us access to our superconscious mind.
Ascent into the superconscious state is difficult from the perspective of ordinary waking consciousness, but when it becomes a conscious experience, the evolution of the mind may be nearing the pinnacle.
The mind is like a liquid in a continual flow and its movement is from a pure choiceless state into the body through which we perceive and its energy takes the shape of our desires, aspirations, memories, hopes, etc. Perception is possible only through our bodily sense organs.
Our desires become the “containers” which restrict the energy of awareness. This happens by way of identification with external objects and internal thoughts. Once the energy of awareness enters the conscious mind and body, the ego traps that energy.
However, if we can detach awareness and make it stand independent of our thoughts and desires, it automatically uncouples from the body, our ego and by extension, from external objects.
We can do this by way of witnessing without identifying with thoughts, as if we are a third person observing the movement of the conscious mind and thought. This can lead us to an experience of purer states of awareness.
The pure, formless energy of awareness descends into the subconscious mind. From this, the conscious mind ascends and, through this awareness, travels into the world. When the ego does not obstruct or impede this cycle, a subtle inner transformation takes place with each passing cycle.
Awareness requires a shift from experiencing the world through our five physical senses to bringing the focus inwards. This transformative process leads to the wholeness of our being; the oneness that connects everyone and everything which is who we are at the core of our being.
Bringing the focus inwards requires quieting the outside noise and stimulation as well as finding the stillness within, through meditation, mindfulness and breathwork exercise where you focus on, and flow with, your natural rhythm.
Awareness is the genesis of all beneficial change in our lives. It is a must, if we wish to incorporate inner peace, joy and contentment into our daily existence. As we look into the mirror through awareness, we find our “selves” within our flaws and imperfections because we now have a power that breaks the chain of pain and fear that hurts ourselves and others, bringing us to a conscious life of love for ourselves, others and our universe.
When we transcend our desires, both conscious and unconscious, the container that traps our awareness disappears, and what is left is the formless energy of awareness which links us with our superconscious mind.
The fewer the desires, the more peace.
