LET THERE BE LIGHT
Have you ever craved so desperately for a beam of light, despite it always being there all around you? Like duh… there is light somewhere in the cosmos at any given moment, there is probably some ray of sunshine reflecting on you this very minute and most likely some form of manmade light fixture above or beside you this very second. So I ask again, have you ever craved so desperately for a beam of light?
Like the seamless art of breathing where you do not have to think or ponder over how or when to take in oxygen or when to let it out, it just happens! Light should be a similar constant in our lives. Our energy should be radiating from our ever present light source.
But alas, I happened to find myself amidst all of those light sources around me, confoundingly absorbed in thick darkness. For a whole season – my season lasted as long as 4 years – I neither saw nor felt light within nor without… and I begged, cried and prayed “Let There Be Light”.
“In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.”

Throughout this season, I wondered if the biblical story of creation was all a fallacy. With the deadness of light and the constant presence of darkness all around me, I began to ask the very crucial question, “What is Light”?
One architectonic concept defines light as a biological, perceptual and psychological indicator of our location and time at any particular instant. It is the channel via which we comprehend our physical position in a world literally and figuratively enlightened by light. It explores the link between geometry, music, space and time and depicts the moving frontiers of knowing and existence through generating new understandings.
The answer to my question, “What is Light?” and most importantly to my cry and prayer, “Let There Be Light” came eventually with a personal revelation in the form of 2 divine senses I came to experience, beyond the 5 physical senses (smell, taste, sight, touch and hearing): a 6th, Mental Perception along with a 7th, Spiritual Understanding.
These 2 newfound senses opened up a perspective that allowed me to not only appreciate the light that had surrounded me all along, but to start to understand its essence, and how to reflect it outwardly in order to illuminate the lives of other people.
My current cry and prayer is that each and every one of us also seek to preserve our inner light and even better, let it shine outward – may it not be kept under the bushel basket, but on the lampstand so that it gives light to all that are in the house.

Ohh wow! So profound!! My prayer everyday is to be a light and always allow my light to shine in this dark world. It is so so easy to get consumed with the darkness that we can’t see the ray of light shining but light, no matter how small it is always overshadows the darkness no matter how small that light is.
Thanks so much for sharing!
This post reminds me of what we all go through as Christians through different seasons in life, when you seem all hope is lost and we gasp for the light of hope and direction to better.
Absolutely love this piece!!!
Thank you for lounging with me and more importantly engaging and sharing your thoughts on this very turbulent adventure ride. We have concluded the first series in Epiphanies of Rebirth and I can boldly say that facing my “darkscape” with courage and compassion, 4 years later, eventually led me to the light … FINALLY, I can BREATHE!
A new season begins…
